I see it more in hockey, but it’s counterintuitive. Maybe because college baseball is lower profile so optically it seem more like hiring and “unknown?”

I agree, but as an office worker who played games in the 90s, I have a more sympathetic explanation. Many of us were kids then, and video games (really any toy) is going to create more excitement, joy and (maybe false) nostalgia than something in our 30s/40s.
