I don't care for a lot of Massie's positions but I have to admire his decision to stand on his principles and not roll over for Trump on things he just cannot agree with. This is a Republican I can accept as worthy of being in Congress.

The militarization of ICE is a stark reminder that Donnie wants with a president controlled police force that he can dispatch as he sees fit. If you don't think that is the plan, you aren't paying attention. The ICE budget wasn't increased to more $ then the FBI just to address immigration.

It was the Republican controlled Senate actually. The House impeached him twice. The Senate failed to convict each time. The 1st time was close but the second was a slam dunk except Moscow Mitch said to let the courts take care of it.

Like Democrats, non MAGA republicans are not a monolith. There were Republicans who, while they did not support abortion, did not believe it was the government's business. I know quite a few who still believe that.

Contrary to today's politics, there was a time when there were a lot of Republicans who understood good governance meant working with the other side and the Democrats were not the enemy, just Americans with different ideas about how government should work.

Nothing in politics should be that cut and dried. The Congress has to produce for the entire country so compromise is often required. They cannot let ideology drive every decision - either side. Give me enough moderate, but ballsy, politicians to get something done.

As a former NYS resident, glad to help as we need fighters in Congress. I wish could could be rolling in Ohio as we need some dynamic Dems here. I certainly hope there is still room for reasonable thinkers who want to get shit done for the country and not only their party.
