I'm finally over my X
The BBC's obsession with US news has undoubtedly increased since Trump has been in power. Frankly, I am more interested in the news from our nearer neighbours like Ireland and France. But, of course, the BBC thinks the UK is the 51st state.

You said it! Today's BBC has got a lot to answer for.

Hurrah! they're all deserting a sinking ship to spend more time with their families. Disingenuous when they enter politics and disingenuous when they leave.

If this absurd law can be applied to an organisation of mainly elderly people peacefully protesting then it can be applied to any minority protest group.
August 11, 2025 at 6:54 PM
Great day for the current Labour Party and government.. Over 450 arrests and counting. The party that grew out of mass protest has now passed a law that criminalises peaceful protest. Hey, Labour Party MPs, you just destroyed everything your predecessors fought for!!

Wishful thinking, I'm afraid. The people I speak to still think Israel is justified in killing innocent children by starvation or the bullet. They say it's all Hamas's fault even though Hamas were elected by a minority of votes. They're happy to see children slaughtered if it means Hamas defeated.

I'm not condoning it but maybe they've worked out that there are more prejudiced and ignorant voters than there are enlightened voters. I'm sure most politicians don't really care where their votes come from as long as it keeps them in politics, that is, allows them to prolong their careers.

What else do you expect from Sky? Impartiality?
July 27, 2025 at 6:02 PM
With the help of the BBC.
July 26, 2025 at 7:15 PM
What will it take for him to forget his fear of Trump, forget about his career, and try to do something, just something, to help innocent children and women from being deliberately starved to death by an evil Israeli government? It's not antisemitic to disagree with Israeli murderers.

Here are some reasons relating to Britain: politicians care more about their careers, broadcasting media care don't have the courage or the professional conviction to cover the issue and print media think that celebrity chefs and strictly come dancing are more important news.

My point was about the absurdity of a Labour government banning the right to peaceful protest when the history of the Labour Party shows it actually grew out of a protest movement. It was about the democratic right to peaceful protest, whatever the issue is. Sorry you missed the point.
July 20, 2025 at 9:00 AM
With respect, I think you missed the point. My comment was about a Labour government preventing the democratic right to peaceful protest. The origins of the Labour Party were actually based on peaceful protest and demonstration. Sorry if that offends you. Have a nice day.

In all my time of voting Labour, over 50 years, I never thought that a Labour government would be a such a constraint on democracy. Just goes to show that once a party is in power they abandon the very principles they were built on.
July 19, 2025 at 6:31 PM
If anything should cost this Labour government the next election it should be this. Who with any ounce of humanity or decency would vote for Yvette Cooper ever again?
July 19, 2025 at 6:21 PM
Indeed. What is the point of any party in government if it just governs to appease the opposition? This current Labour Party, when they were in opposition, spoke out against the very right wing policies that they are now implementing as the party in power. We live in perplexing times.
July 6, 2025 at 8:03 PM
Those of us who voted Labour in the last election are now wondering what we voted for. Criminalisation of dissent? Suppression of the right to protest? Democratic rights gradually whittled away. I never thought I'd ever say it but, is there any difference between Labour and Conservatives?

There's not enough space here to go into detail but your argument about Wales' rail infrastructure is deeply flawed. Rail infrastructure is not devolved so any rail project is an England-Wales project. Other parts of rural England could make the same arguments that you make regarding Wales.
June 15, 2025 at 6:05 PM
Indeed. Is it time for the BBC to question his relationship with Tate? He's not a Labour MP though. That might, just might, have something to do with it.

If Brexit was 'not wrong', as he says, why does he urge deeper ties with EU? Either he's afraid of offending someone or he's just another liar in public office. Why do we get so many dishonest people in British public life? Is dishonesty an essential credential to succeed in public life?
May 30, 2025 at 6:00 PM
Many of them didn't vote for Brexit in the first place, Alex, so it's not a case of admitting they were wrong. It's just an unspeakable truth in the UK at the moment, and it's all a bit silly.
May 30, 2025 at 5:47 PM
Most people in public office seem to believe that Brexit was a mistake and that we should have closer ties with Europe again, but why are they afraid to say it?
May 29, 2025 at 7:38 PM
Spot on, as we say here in the UK.
May 5, 2025 at 5:18 PM
That's not very bold of her to acknowledge something so patently obvious. In the light of the behaviour and protectionist attitude of the Trump administration she should be announcing a strengthening of EU ties and dismissing the importance of ties with the US.
