Sketchbookin 31! The #ItaloCalvino book #InvisibleCities is easily my favorite piece of fiction. In it there’s a city with an above ground section for the living and a below ground section for the dead and it’s unclear which mirrors which. #sketchbook #moleskine #fantasyart #ruinlust

Sketchbookin 27! Laputa Reoccurring. Many folks know #Laputa from Ghibli’s #CastleintheSky but the name and the concept come from the 1726 novel Gulliver’s Travels by Jonathan Swift. That’s not to denigrate Ghibli’s film as unoriginal. It’s one of my favorites it’s more to point to a universality…

I should get back to doing these ruin pieces. I really enjoyed the process and liked where it was going although sometimes you need to let some concepts mature or develop in the mental background while you work on other things. #acrylic #painting #fantasyart #visionaryart #visionary #landscapes
