Ah good I seem to have bumped into a group of people who love music - but I do hope there isn’t too much of “Now that was truly great music and what young people listen to today is shit!” The music of youth is deigned to alienate older people. Did your parents like your music?

I love the fact that the writer of this song had never been to Africa but managed to give African Rain an almost mythical status.

Pt 3. For the next few hours people continued flipping the album over as everyone got familiar with this new album. During the whole evening there were always two or three people standing patiently by the record player waiting to be passed the album cover so they could dutifully inspect it. 😊

Pt2. My mate Dave suggested that a friend from school was having a party as his parents were away and then added the clincher, “And he’s got Abbey Rd” (the new Beatles album that had only been released that day) When we arrived I guess they had already played it several times on both sides.

I spent my life listening to new music but there are still large swathes that I miss. Music used to be rare and so being cool was that much easier. 😊

I find it extraordinary that this pretty little picture on my phone is of something some unimaginably large.
