I had a similar experience. Sad but true! Too funny. 😂
In the month before I handed in my final draft -- I was 99% done with it -- a real fire broke out somewhere in my department. As we grabbed our things to exit the building, I had the distinct thought of "it's okay if I die but my MY WORK must live on!"
That is some fucked-up thinking right there.
