In 1979, I was in a Katimavik group in a little tiny Quebec village up near the New Brunswick border. The villagers put on a feast for our group in late November, just before we left for our next rotation. It included a massive taffy pull! It was so fun. Thanks for enlightening me as to its origins.

A very interesting account! I didn't know she was Canadian. I loved her depiction of Moneypenny. She was also in a short-lived Canadian TV show that I loved as a kid: Adventures in Rainbow Country, 1970 to 1971.

I grew up in St. Lambert and spent my whole childhood travelling back and forth across this bridge -- and past the black rock, which my parents told us was a memorial to a plague. Thank you for all these details that I never thought to look into myself!
