You need good insulation to get the best out of a standard boiler. Heat pumps are incredibly efficient - for every unit of electricity you get 2-4 units of heat.

I know people that worked in the MoD. I've had a few discussions with them around how they get access to decent tech/hardware from companies that have policy that prevents them fulfilling defence/military contracts. The answer: "they get around it, you will never know that they are the customer"

...their right mind would ignore customers demands. If you see a profitable opportunity, you take it. I hate the current state of the industry but the problem stems from its mentality not one chipmaker. I would like to see AI used to solve problems, not being used to race towards AGI (biggest issue)

...It's far more nuanced. The problem stems from the industry as a whole. From the investors that love buzzwords to the model creators building bloated models that have no problem to solve. Nvidia reacts to customer demand and they fulfill that demand. It's just good business, no company in...

...for new solutions are huge. You need a company with a truly huge budget to compete, then there's the question of how are you going to increase adoption. GPUs had a market before AI and they will after AI. Thinking that Nvidia are the creators of the bubble is shallow thinking...

I do not disagree that they're inefficient, but they do fill a need. The power consumption is a problem, but the problem stems from customers demanding more and more power. The biggest issue is there's not a tailored hardware solution out there that's performant enough and the financial barriers...

Coincidentally, the compute needed for rendering video and games graphics in real time is a decent solution to the compute requirements of training and running AI models. GPUs are objectively good at this, not perfect, but they're certainly better than CPUs for this

It's a bad take. They took a hit because a Chinese company managed to make a good model using less performant Nvidia GPUs. This spooked investors of AI firms. Firms that buy/rent GPUs. GPUs are suited for AI compute, because of complex calc, like matrix multiplication etc. You can't do that on CPU

A lot of us used Sublime Text back then

I'm not sure I follow. What has this got to do with untrusting information sources? Genuinely want to hear more of your opinion on this matter
January 16, 2025 at 12:52 PM
Because the internet (and subsequently BlueSky) is available all around the globe. This platform essentially allows me to comment on any foreign affair I please. It's globalism gone mad, I tell you.

I think there are quite a few, but you can also try referencing books or academic journals instead maybe? Do you struggle with trust a lot in your life? If so, that sucks. Paranoia is no joke.

I'm just telling you how it comes across. So memes are like turning your points/comments into picture books? That's cool.
Do you think the next presidential election debate should require nominees to back their points with memes? Because I'd watch the shit out of that debate and I'm not from the US
January 16, 2025 at 2:02 AM
You should try supporting your claims with news articles from respected and trusted sources! I think that will help
January 16, 2025 at 1:28 AM
Your comments make Trump's second term sound like the coming of Christ. It's really weird. Your evidence to support your points are memes. Even weirder. Man, you have to admit it does come across as brainwashed and a bit idiotic. And I really do say that with respect.
January 16, 2025 at 1:27 AM
I say this with the deepest of respects and I really hope you find peace in your life, but you sound like a brainwashed idiot

Grammarly harnesses something that we used to call NLP not GenAI. That buzzword drives me insane. GenAI was reserved for models that created images like GAN and SD, then ChatGPT came along.

Blockchain is complex compute, hence why it requires a lot of processing power. You're dealing with large operations. It's why it hasn't taken off, except for crypto, while even then being poorly executed.

GenAI is not useful for everyone. Not everyone needs to send emails every day.
January 13, 2025 at 6:38 PM
Everyone? What world do you live in? I don't find either useful. Blockchain is too complex and large. AI is similar in some aspects, but more importantly is too inaccurate to be trustworthy. GenAI has all the makings of a fad, I'm afraid

Average joke at best
