Do we have to wait for them to do it? Can't we classify all the techbro billionaires as Roderick Spode the first, second, third etc and all their products as their cow creamers?

'The true nature of this country is openness, tolerance and generosity. We want to provide sanctuary to those in danger.'

1st sentence (hopefully) true. 2nd sentence obvious codswallop.

She's trying to play to two audiences at once without giving a thought to to right thing to do.

'As we restore control to our borders, I will therefore open new, capped, safe and legal routes for genuine refugees. While these will be modest at first, they will grow in time.'

1st sentence true. 2nd sentence, well, I'll believe it when I see it.

Oh no. They've got to the point where they're proudly announcing that they're planning to be wrong in every conceivable way in advance.

Who the hell does she think this is playing with?

Fully agree. One doesn't have to be uncritical of the BBC to object to a foreign plutocrat trying to reshape our media landscape to his convenience. To accept that is to accept everything that's wrong with the BBC being pushed into being more wrong.

Or do you mean he's popular with racists?

How is that a counterpoint?

He gave an after dinner talk at an event hosted by racists who make racist statements on their Facebook page and acted shocked when they turned out to be racists - or perhaps, when the press found out he'd been there.

Mis-spelling? Maybe. Counterpoint? No.

JRM doesn't specify that he meant a king of England. He just referred to 'the last king'. Most of these responses are filling in that blank for him, which involves making the rather kindly assumption that he was far less clueless than the statement implies.

This explains so much. If we could just persuade them to experience flavour, they'd discover joy and leave all the bitterness and spite behind.

Is he promising a 45min response to pot holes if he's allowed to do whatever he wants again?

How about we say we agree with them so enthusiastically that we think the code should be applied retrospectively?

I find Johnson's posts make much more sense if I assume he's drunkenly slurring the first half, pauses for a noseful of the good stuff and then rattles off the inevitable closing sentence without a pause between words.

It's an attack on the concept of citizenship. If only citizens have rights, the onus is on the citizen to prove our citizenship and the government has left all international obligations to enforce citizens' rights the where does it leave anybody?

The Windrush scandal is looking like a warm up.
