A 1w Caspian Gull the highlight on an otherwise wet afternoon walk in south Bucks. It flew off to LMGP roost direction at sunset. @bucksbirdclub81.bsky.social

During my return from an unexpected trip to 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 I thought I would break the journey in 1/2 at Gretna for the Richardson’s Cackling Goose. Managed eventually to pick it out of the c3000 Barnies. Small Size ✅ short neck ✅ steep forehead ✅, single bird ✅. @birdguides.bsky.social

Not bad Seawatch vantage point! 😎🏖️ Cory Shearwater, Yellow legged Gulls, little Egret out to sea and singing a Carnary Island Chiffchaff behind.

YWB Pallas’s and Dusky Warblers’. Great Grey Shrike, Glossy Ibis, Curlew Sandpiper, spotted redshank, peregrine, Marsh Harriers and lots of Geese. Cley & Salthouse, me and Caleb have had a blast 😊

Parked next to Salthouse Marshes last night only for 6 Glossy Ibis to be in the field next door this morning 😁. #digiscope

An early morning journey and first time visit to Rutland Waters for an incredibly close up view of a young Baird’s Sandpiper. Initially chose the wrong side to look for it but eventually caught up with it through the fog on the peninsula. @birdguides.bsky.social #digiscope

After poor views of possibly the Willen Ferruginous Duck in 2024 followed by distant views of the Colne Valley bird later in the year, it was great to see close up views of this at #LMGP yesterday evening found by @marlowbirder.bsky.social. No rings on show so hopefully it will pass the test.

Birding South Bucks this month has frustratingly lived up to its inland reputation. But this weekend connected with some nice common migrants. #ukbirds

Not much birding for me this summer/Autumn so far. But nice this week to catch up with passing migrants. Whinchats are always a favourite to see. #ukbirds #birds #digiscope #wildlife #migration #photography. 📷 #iphone16pro 🔭 #kowa883

A distant but fabulous view of the Gloucestershire Black Winged Kite this morning before it flew of toward Splatt. The bird was flushed by a local Horse rider. @rarebirder.bsky.social @birdguides.bsky.social

Early twitch for Suffolk’s Zitting Cisticola has paid off with lovely first light views of it display flying and perching on nearby Buckthorn. 😊 #ukbirding @birdguides.bsky.social @rarebirder.bsky.social

My first summer/autumn monster from the coast was terrorising the other large Gulls this evening. GBBG #gullswp

Bits & bobs of local Gull action this week. Couple of Caspos 2cy & 3cy (thanks Jamie for the 👍🏻 on this one). First views of Juvs LBBGs that have been raised on an industrial rooftop next door. But, the #gulloftheweek goes to a brutish Yellow Legged Gull on my local landfill #ukbirding #gullswp

@jamiepartridge.bsky.social any thoughts on this local Gull? It was giving me Casp so much through the scope. Flight shots all blown out. Legs appear pale to light pink in video (I felt they were warmer in real time). Appreciate hard to comment from stills but interest in your thoughts. 👍🏻👍🏻 #gullswp

A morning walk to local woodland where there has a been a recent eruption of Common Crossbill. Over 200 birds in the Larch forest with some fab views of their intricate bill work. #digiscope #ukbirds #ukwildlife #woodlands

Post breeding gull numbers building locally. With plenty of Juv YLGs on show. But pleased to pick out this Caspian Gull. #gullswp

A Friday evening county ✅ and lifer 🙂🙂. A moulting female Montagu’s Harrier hunting hedgerows north of Tring. Views were distant but breathtaking. Seen flying in Bucks and Herts #ukbirds

A family gathering up north in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 provided the ideal opportunity to swing by Girvan for the long staying Western Sandpiper. Took a while to relocate but soon offered nice views. @scottishbirding.bsky.social #ukbirds #phonescope

Bit of #digiscope 🎥 from this AM’s Balearic Shearwater. As a bit of a seawatch novice I was 😬 one might flyby without me being able to pick it out. But, as it happen compared to Manxies it had a notably stockier structure, extended legs and differential plumage 😁. @portlandbirdobs.bsky.social

More Portland Bill seawatch this morning. A couple of notables en route. No skua for me and relatively few Maxies but this Baleraric Shearwater was a highlight just as I was packing up (it passed the bill c0750). A Life tick for this landlocked Bucks birder 😁✅👍🏻 @portlandbirdobs.bsky.social

Wild and wet nights camping on Sweet Hill farm above @portlandbirdobs.bsky.social. Woke first light to four noisy Raven. So walked down the hill for an early seawatch (0600-0700). Lots of Guillemot but close Flyby views of Maxi shearwater (c60) and this Dark phase Arctic Skua were highlights.
