The solo=bad sentiment is mainly from the first couple days before they patched the game and made solo scale correctly.

Also from watching your VOD, no one told you that weapon passives work as long as they are in your inventory and about relic rites, so you missed a lot of potential power

As someone that put 80 hours into it on release, definitely put a solo run or two in so you can get used to it. Solo you do more damage and take (barely) less and can buy revive an extra revive from shops, you can easily solo the entire game. Most of it is map pathing and taking good fights.
