The path we walk. A white clover, An offering for the spotted snake on the street. His dead body exposed his white belly, full of his prey. The snake's neck was sliced in half, severing a connection from nature. Our refusal to be a part of the sacred ecosystem. There, a headless bird rots on the sidewalk. Withering feathers, stripped of her freedom. A cat gnawed on the bird's neck, ripping truth from her throat. In silence, her presence spoke louder. A warning of what to come. Then there is a buried corpse of the pink bird. The baby bird used to be on a sidewalk, an unforgiving reality. Yet Mother Nature hugs the baby closely, kissing the rotting corpse. Like our ribs hold our heart and soul so tightly. The moment we die, we return to the arms of our mother. A sacred womb, a breath of life. An inescapable fate; a reminder that we are a part of nature.
