Black-Fronted Dotterel came within a few metres of me, repeatedly dropping one wing down and fanning out its tail with its back to me. Possibly, it had a mate with a nest in the area and was trying to lure me away with distraction behaviour

I finally found the local area "really early alarm clock" high atop a Silky Oak just after sunrise. He calls all through the wee hours from around 2 am. Pacific Koel (Eudynamys orientalis) aka Eastern Koel.
