What a shame, because I am playing 4 right now (was on sale on Steam) and I'd say it's the best in the series so far. I'd say 4 is as much of an upgrade to 2 as 2 was an upgrade to 1.

It's basically the last hurrah to old Naughty Dog. Josh Scherr who co-wrote all other games was still on it.

$100,000 per year?
Bro I am a software dev in Germany and make $50k per year.
Wages in the US (and cost of living) are so overinflated there it gives a wrong idea to what is "normal".

These insane wages are also why the US game industry is dying. It's not cost effective anymore to develop there.

Imagine Skyrim.
Now imagine Skyrim, but it's mechanics are actually being properly evolved with added depth.
Every system is in service of it's setting and themes, nothing was simplified on the altar of "mass appeal".

KCD2 sets a standard TES6 will have to match.

Probably, although I consider Kingdom Come 2 to be the better game overall and my personal GOTY.
KCD2 is just bolder in terms of actual game design choices and just sheer mechanical depth. And when in doubt, gameplay should always beat the story and visuals.

I'd say it's maybe even less of a boredom thing but a like... ritual thing? Not in a religious sense but like "if you want to be part of the new nobility do these things". By doing them you make yourself a member but also now they all have a kompramat on you so you won't backstab them.

Zelda Doomguy. Unironically.

There is no situation in which the disappearance of SNAP will not result in victims, but just letting people go and steal food is not going to make things better but much, MUCH worse.
October 30, 2025 at 6:20 AM
Furthermore, when theft increases massively stores HAVE to close down
And the stores closed down first are the discount ones, the ones that the poor rely on to feed them since their profit margins are so thin, they can't just facetank theft
Which will only increase food shortages
October 30, 2025 at 6:20 AM
Implying the people stealing would then be the starving ones
because thats not usually how it goes
the thieves are typically opportunists
They are in it for the money
if they steal food it's not because they are starving but because they want to resell it.

Warframe wins by doing nothing

Not just Hollywood, the entire US (Western in general) economy becomes increasingly shorter and shorter sighted.

Take your pick of ANY industry and you will find short sighted greed become more and more dominant.

Enshittification as far as the eye can see.

Hell, the BIG advertsing factor of BF3 over BC2 way back then was that it was less like CoD (which BC2 heavily leaned into) and more like the "old school games" by bringing back going prone, 64 player matches, jets (vehicle heavy maps in general), etc.
August 26, 2025 at 3:20 PM
Yes and it was always a big criticism by more old school fans that the franchise became increasingly "CoD-fied". Lo and behold, BFV and 2042 (among MANY other reasons) were flops in part because of it.

I'd say if I were to map out on a scale, then all games prior to BC2 lean much more towards ARMA.
August 26, 2025 at 3:18 PM
Just because you have no schmoovement doesn't mean you "lower the skill ceiling".

In the end every game aims for a certain experience (even in a multiplayer setting), and Battlefield usually was never the series that aimed for THAT kind of experience.
August 25, 2025 at 3:19 PM
Still between ARMA and CoD it's always kind of in the middle between the two, and there is a constant tug of war by one part of the audience to make it more like ARMA and another part of the audience to make it more like CoD.

It may not be a milsim... but it's also not a twitch shooter.

I am convinced there are people incapable of separating fact and fiction.

Like it's not an intelligence thing, they are physically incapable to do it, their brains just aren't wired that way. (Think aphantasia).

And it's far more people than we would think.

So ironically, by telling people to stop using a word, you only end up making it stronger.

Bad words disappear because they become banal. Nobody really says "damn" anymore when it used to be a big deal equal to words like "fuck". But the word stopped being bad, so it stopped having power.
July 14, 2025 at 5:26 AM
Sadly, this isn't how language works. A word being "bad" is what gives it "power" and why people use it, either to accentuate something ("ass" is bad but "big-ass" means REALLY big)... or just as a plain insult. An insult wouldn't be insulting if the words weren't bad.

Creative Assembly gets a license for Zelda or Fire Emblem and we get ourselves a Total War game in these universes. Total War is already heavily "rock/paper/scissors" with units (like any RTS) so the weapon triangle would work well here. Hyrule Warriors also shows that Zelda in a war setting works.
July 13, 2025 at 11:58 AM
Eh, Switch 2 edition implies some form of extra content and since all these games already had extensive DLCs and DLC campaigns makes me doubt that that will happen.
June 17, 2025 at 12:51 PM
Considering Splatoon 3 got it's update exactly 1 week after the Switch 2 launch makes me think it's going to be a weekly thing. Guess we will see on Thursday if it will be.
June 17, 2025 at 12:50 PM
Funnily enough filling out the Dex is now easier before. You only need to complete the Pokedex of THAT GAME, you no longer need to finish a national dex.

So for SV you "only" need 400 Pokemon and you can use a 2nd profile on the Switch for a 2nd save for a 2nd legendary for trading.
June 12, 2025 at 12:46 PM
That makes no sense since it's straight up 1-2-3

Your example only would make sense if Han got captured in a game called "Bespin: A Star Wars story" (originally only released on Betamax) with no indication that it was of major importance to the rest of the story.
