I think the best way to think of it is like a car/bike, there are cars/bikes tuned specific ways that meet certain requirements. Ubuntu, in my opinion, would be classified as a sedan/10speed bike. Plenty of things there to get you from A to B and plenty of ways to optimize/change to make your own

I don’t quite get the analogy here but that’s okay! I recommended Ubuntu due to the thoroughness of their documentation, there are plenty of great distros and everyone’s mileage will definitely vary depending on background!

Easy “try out” documentation but other Linux flavors have the same boot off usb to try it but I’ve found Ubuntu to be easiest for those just wanting to try :)
