So . . . what kind of healthcare plan do Democrats have in mind in the long run?

Universal Healthcare?
Single Payer?
Medicare for All?

There's a guy Democrats can ask for ideas . . .

Or, a book to read . . .

Here’s how Medicare for All can be implemented

This article is categorized as Personal Finance - but there is nothing in it to do with personal choice. It's about the government taking away safety nets in an economy where people don't have living wages while executives and oligarchs get all the money.

But, just bootstrap yourselves out.

Pass - went to Audible to buy the audio book and the review is below. I really enjoyed The Spare Man. I really dislike sex in my science fiction (or urban fantasy books) - and won't knowingly buy such books, or if I do find out after buying and spending my time and money, will review accordingly.

After Texas banned abortions with no exceptions for rape or incest in 2021, a study estimated over 26,000 rape-related pregnancies occurred in the state within 16 months.
This was the highest number among states with abortion bans

The Republicans always have to have someone to hate.
Stirring up outrage and fear is how they maintain their base.

Women get judged harshly if they don't stay quiet:

Schiff, a seasoned politician who understands how to manipulate, spent 10 million dollars to elevate Katie Porter's republican competition and push her out.

I find Katie Porter to be a refreshing elected representative. She represents people, not corporate interests.

That's what we need.

" . . . data says otherwise"
October 11, 2025 at 2:31 PM
This appears to be something dug up to trash Katie Porter from 2021, she appears to be at home (kitchen in the background) and there is a woman in a blue surgical mask that walks into frame briefly once, then again, and Katie Porter stops herself and tells her to stop that, it was edited out.

I have spent more time doing other things, so haven't kept up on recent video clips and news articles - but it appears that attacks on journalists have become more blatant (as was seen in Los Angeles a few months back)

This is new (to me.)

I wasn't there. Apparently you weren't either

Perhaps you, like me, have noticed a pattern by ICE in quickly putting out a version of events that is favorable to themselves, only to release the detained people without charges

The tactic of putting out their version quickly grabs the narrative

Yes, you have zero respect for her.

I have a lot of respect for her because she has done the work I haven't seen other elected representatives do. Well, Bernie Sanders and AOC and some others do work to better lives too.

Katie Porter has done good work. And, she's not always pleasant. I like her.

Women politicians get judged more harshly than male politicians. I've admired her for fighting for constituents against all the harm done to people by corporations. She, with her whiteboard, showed us all how people are affected by low wages and high expenses.

Not a saint, a fighter for change.

The reporting isn't always timely:

Pete Buttigieg is articulate, quick-witted, a great debater.

But he was part of the group of people who successfully pushed out Bernie Sanders, and it's still in my memory.

Also, it would be great for Americans to have Universal Healthcare like the rest of industrialized countries do.
