I mean, my local music venue is literally hosting Bury Tomorrow, Showaddywaddy and an ABBA tribute band all in the same month, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Then why do companies like Nintendo spend so much time/effort on security mgmt? N. has sued ppl for leaking game footage. They had to respond to a shareholder question last year to attest they're battling leaks. Why bother with all this if it has 'zero impact'? www.nintendolife.com/news/2024/06...

(For the record, I don't believe that these leaks are going to utterly doom the Switch 2 or whatever. The impact is small, but I believe there -is- an impact, and it'll only get worse the longer Nintendo leaves the reveal and lets more 'underwhelming' leaks hit the public)

Is that really true, though? I just googled to see if the leaks are being reported on the websites of mainstream tabloids The Sun and Metro - and yeah, they are. And yikes, look at this headline: 'just another Switch' indeed...

You only get one chance to make a first impression. A not-zero number of ppl will see the leaks (w/o info on performance/features software that they would get in an official reveal) & assume that it's 'just another Switch'. (How much did the Wii U suffer with bad 'first impression' assumptions?)

Not a shock, really. Even ignoring the issue of the stereotyped characters; where else can Punch-Out really go to innovate on the previous games? I can -maybe- imagine some kind of Punch-Out 99 spinoff, but that's about it.

I really don't know why they chose not to produce that one; it's a lot cooler and more useful than the final version. Maybe some sort of production issue?
