Sqwerv - Wonder EP

Fun dreamy yachty goodness. More bands need hype stickers like this one

Suicide - Surrender

A solid collection of tracks across their discography. Felt like the right transition after listening to Spacemen 3.

Spacemen 3 - Threebie 3 EP

Peak Spacemen drones. The perfect prescription while drafting performance reviews.

Oracle Sisters - Divinations

Subdued rock/pop/folk to help our slow start on this holiday Monday.

Goose - 2025.03.11 Live

After last night’s incredible second set in Detroit, tucking in with everybody’s favorite 80 minute song in the least convenient way possible.

Spacemen 3 - Recurring

Admittedly my least favorite of their 4 albums, I’d forgotten how hard the back half of Sonic’s side goes. I never knew his killer line, “Your eyes. It’s a day’s work to look into them” was a Laurie Anderson nod.

The Riches - The Roches LP

I got sucked in by the novelty of the opening track but the rest of the album is fantastic. 45 years later and not much else sounds like this!

Tortoise - Millions Now Living Will Never Die

Huge thanks to @cartwright.bsky.social for tracking down a copy of this for me. A “forever favorite” that I finally have on vinyl.

Turnstile - Never Enough

Definitely not my go-to genre but there are earworms for days on this album

The Orb - Metallic Spheres in Colour w/ David Gilmour

Up early, house cleaned and chores done. Time for some Holiday Monday “itchy woo”

Goose - Everything Must Go

Beautifully recorded, less guitar-forward versions of these songs compared to their live counterparts.

Dustin Hoffman is excellent as is How it Ends. Was eagerly waiting for Silver Rising. Not sure how it stacks up yet.

Animal Collective: Merriweather Post Pavillion

Listening to the artist for the first time, a friend described this as a panic attack. I generally find it pretty uplifting but I get it.

13th Floor Elevators - Live at the Houston Music Theatre ‘67

Another RSD pickup. I’m so used to Spacemen 3’s Rollercoaster that Roky’s vocals threw me for a loop. Love this.

The greatest of all time, IMO.

We have a print of it in our dining room.

Olivia Tremor Control: Singles & Beyond.

Of all my concert regrets, skipping OTC at several Toronto stops (@ $12 a ticket) thinking “I’ll just see them next time” haunts me the most. Never ended up seeing them and missing the music of Bill and Will today.

Hanging out by the dumpster with the rest of the RSD nerds.

Microphones - Microphones in 2020.

Seeing Phil for the first time in a couple of weeks so spending time with the parts of his catalog I’m not very familiar with. I kind of think it doesn’t matter as he won’t play anything I know regardless right?!

A colleague gave me an old og copy of this and I realized I had only ever listened to the first song. (Thank you for that Ye).

Exploring the rest this morning

Thanks to @cartwright.bsky.social for alerting me to a heck of a deal on this a few weeks back.

Magnolia Electric Co - Sun Session

A meditative, dog-dangling rendition of Hold On Magnolia is exactly what Saturday morning needed.

Man, Kranky records is criminally underrepresented here.
