British person who fixes old computers, plays old games, and makes things. Writes software and does DevOps-y stuff for money.
I’m disgustingly earnest at the best of times.

Several whiskies and beers later and I’m utterly unbearable, I presume.

…and while it’s baking, I’m putting a dent in my bottle of Baileys. I aim to be drunk-hungry by the time it’s ready to come out of the oven.

Of course, usual caveats apply — do this at your own risk, take backups of data you don’t want to lose, etc.

FYI, when I switched my Win10 to IoT Enterprise, I *did* do a full reinstall, but it accepted the licence key stored in my Microsoft Account (the HWID auth method).

This script appears to do everything automatically (it didn’t exist when I did my switch):

I think this should do the trick!

github.com/Bladez1992/L...

I don’t think this existed back when I switched over, but looks pretty straightforward!

A possible alternative: find a nerd who can change your Windows 10 edition to “IoT Enterprise”. Can be done without losing any installed programs or data.

Will have security updates until January 2032.

Been running my Win10 machine like this for about 6 months and it’s been absolutely fine.

And merry Christmas!

NB: I have no experience maintaining and repairing old cars (although I’ve watched a *lot* of YouTube).

I also am not a car guy. I don’t own a car, and when I did, I barely needed it.

But cars like these, I love.

(I’m also 6’ 4”, so probably should go for an MGB instead)
