I never thought an R-factor would be so sexy. Meet the only insulated wall in my 1920 home. She warm and I'm feeling proud I did this.

Backer rod is a useful way to fill small gaps. This is just behind where the new drywall ceiling will meet the old plaster wall. Putting this here will not only stop drafts but will create a stop for the joint compound when the corners of the ceiling are mudded for the finished look.

Sometimes I restore historic elements and other times I build new stuff because it makes more sense. Newest project is this ceiling in order to add insulation to this room! Been working on this behind the scenes for a week and she's almost ready for drywall.
