Under Labour’s welfare cuts, 1.3 million people with cancer, arthritis and other diseases could lose PIP.

They could have just made the very wealthiest pay their fair share.

What an absolute disgrace that they are choosing to make life harder for disabled people instead.

Rolls-Royce wants UK subsidies for new engine.

Why can shareholders not fund it?

Govt won't give repayable loan, won't take equity stake. Company will own resulting asset & income streams.

Huge wealth transfer to private hands.

Must check corporate welfare.

Well done to Alistair Bunkall for stating matter-of-factly that Israel broke the ceasefire.

As ever, that we're having to congratulate a journalist for reporting facts is an indictment on how much the UK mainstream media has trashed its integrity over the last 18 months.

Treasury minister James Murray's response? It might as well be, f**k the disabled. He clearly doesn't care.

Further benefits cuts planned as Rachel Reeves forced to find extra £1.6bn.

It is continuation of the Tory austerity with the old, sick, disabled, unfortunate as targets.

No talk of reducing corporate welfare, ending tax perks of the rich, redistribution of income/wealth.

My suggestions to the UK govt for rejuvenating economy.

Must boost purchasing power of the bottom 50% of the population, cut taxes for the poor, eliminate tax perks of the rich.

The Minister did not respond. Will the Chancellor change policy?

Rachel Reeves: I will not 'tax and spend'.

That means cuts in some govt depts.

So far, two child benefit cap, winter fuel payment cut, freeze on income tax thresholds; proposed benefit cuts

Must ditch the fiscal rules. Tax the rich.

Can't grow economy without that.

New UK minimum wage for an over-21 full-time worker will be £22,222 a year before tax and NIC.

A single person needs to earn £28,000 a year for minimum acceptable std of living. A couple with 2 children needs £69,400.

Millions in poverty. Save for pension, buy home?

Poverty institutionalized.
Prem Sikka: A boost in the minimum wage is welcome, but more must be done to improve people’s material conditions
'Despite the increase, the minimum wage will still be comparatively low, and millions will live below the minimum acceptable standard of living.'
