Twin dad, twin cities, national politics, MN stories, urban and transit.
Try again, please make me look more strong-jawed and put the Eiffel tower in the background.

The whole thing really is a distraction, the political equivalent of starting a forum thread on tipping culture. But still. Our travel system is so scammy and expensive, not to mention there's planes falling out of the sky all the time. Dress code is not why helicopters are crashing into jets.

James Carville is worth having around solely to see what other blundering marks regurgitate his analysis

The idea of parking on one of the main arteries is absurd to me. That's where all the cars are flying by! The worst spot for a parking lane!

I started the series on audiobook this spring and am finishing the last book now. What first drew me to it, apart from some recommendations, is the narrator- impressive range and actually reads with the same intonation you hear in your head.
It's something special, check it out if you get a chance!

It will never hit the same popularity of the Game of Thrones books- no one will be selling any "House dan Glokta" scarves.

The genre casting of the series is, I think somewhat unfairly, "grimdark". It's not a nihilistic work, not over-the-top or gratuitous.

At least there's plenty of other fantastic books out there! I highly recommend the First Law series by Joe Abercrombie- It's not really the same and not trying to be, but has similar "idealism meets pragmatism and look how that turns out" themes.

I'm still bummed that there really seems to be no effort to continue the original story. We're coming up on 15 years since the TV show launched and 7 since it ended. The last book was 14 years ago- I remember reading it at so many jobs ago.

I think all Mamdani had to offer up was to get Cats back on Broadway and Trump was like, oh, ok, whatever you need Mr Jellicle

As a wee lad of maybe 17 I had a friend who introduced me to this secret about uptown

It was always so hard to park in that ramp, so busy, so full

And she was like "watch this I'm going to park two blocks away in the neighborhood" 🤯

A true radical

If I was a really funny guy I would run the Minneapolis public works and change two lanes of Hennepin Ave into parking spaces for like 8 cars total

That would be so funny

I'd sit out on my porch giggling, looking at the prime storefronts, saying "gosh I hope someone leaves their car here"

In my salad days I lived a dozen yards from this place and the perfect day always involved sleeping until 11:30 and making it in before they were out of food
