The finished quick painted buildings for Castles of Burgundy

The special edition of Castles of Burgundy is truly decadent and unnecessary and I love it so much. It was surprisingly not terrible to tell apart the 3D building hexes — even unpainted — but they deserve a glow up.

Had a lovely day of board gaming with old friends and new ones. Definitely heavy on the racing games (not pictured: Robo Rally). Also, after a lost package from UPS and a month of fighting with customer service, I got my replacement special edition of Castles of Burgundy! It was a good day.

Absolutely ate shit on this corner essentially doing the equivalent of 100mph trying to make a right turn in a residential 25mph zone so RIP, remember me

(The game is Heat: Pedal to the Metal)

Rallyman: Dirt continues to be amazing. Played a module w/ Bri — 1 stage, 3 tries & you can customize your car in between each. The 1st try was definitely us feeling out the track, then we both improved our times, but Bri pushed hard on the last try and won. Never seen a game capture theme so well 🤌

It was unfortunate that as a North American I never got my official Rallyman: Dirt all-in KS pledge, but I do not regret rebuying an all-in copy from Europe. Introduced it to my partner's brother with a tense 2-stage race and ended up playing another one shot before he left. A new top 10 game for me

Bites is so simple and always so fun.

I had high hopes for the new Robo Rally which has definitely made changes for the better compared to its previous iterations, but it still seems to outstay its welcome. Still, it was a good time and now I know to only use the maps marked "short"

Recently played some criminally underrated games. Emerson Matsuuchi's Volt: a 4 player robot programming melee, and Reload — [insert your favorite battle Royale video game]: The Board Game with a really innovative mechanism where the actions you take determine the strength of your off-turn defenses.
