Right now, it's 2AM. Here I am, a decade and a half later, and... I still do the same thing, with various pieces of low quality media, night after night. And, well... I still don't understand what it is I'm looking for. I don't know if I ever will. But maybe one day I'll figure it out. Who knows?

And I've never really forgotten that. I just sat there by myself listening to the same audio-only scene, recorded by a DSI for Flipnote Hatena, in my friend's basement in the middle of the night, over and over and over again for hours...

So, I could hear the dialogue from the movie, like Jewel endearingly asking Blu what he was doing when he started dancing. And for some reason, I felt like I was experiencing some kind of life-changing moment for people I didn't know. (But were actually blue macaws from an animated children's film.)

I pulled the one called "I Wanna Party", which is actually the song "Hot Wings" from the Rio soundtrack. But I noticed while listening to the Flipnote over and over, in the middle of the night by myself as a kid, I realized it was actually a Flipnote-recording of the scene from the movie itself.

And one of the movies it uploaded the soundtrack of was Rio, a movie that I had just seen and loved. The image was a Flipnote-filtered logo from the film, and the audio quality was peak Flipnote crunchy bitrate. Anyway, none of the titles of the songs were right, but I didn't really care.

Once everyone had fallen asleep, I moved to the basement living room. I climbed under a huge red blanket, and opened my DSI and went to Flipnote Hatena. I was browsing Hatena for what felt like hours, and I remember finding an account just called "Movie Soundtracks".
