Go for it! It’s a fun and fulfilling way to get new gear, plus the building and trouble shooting really keeps your brain limber. The trouble shooting of circuits is what will really build knowledge of how things work.

Very cool idea!

One of my least favorite synths to repair, but favorites to play 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yup, we can’t change their minds, the more we try- the more they dig in. They are really in to Trump for exactly the reasons we find him terrible. Let them FAFO, it’s the only way they will learn.

It looks like you have the Doepfer low cost cases, which I also have. You might consider getting the base cases, which have a slanted and a flat row and would fit all the modules you have in skiffs, plus a bit more space for new pieces. They make a big single base that’s 168hp.

I recently redid my rig and decided to pull the modular right up to the edge of the table, so I it’s much closer and easier to fiddle with. It worked well for me, set up another table in an L with the modular table for the desktop units

Egg prices were extra high yesterday when I stopped by my local grocery store, and stock was low. Go bird flu 😵‍💫

It depends on your goals. There’s the technique you mention of creating an actual poly synth inside the modular, though I found this clunky. I now use a combination of modules with chord modes and samplers with chord stabs.

I struggled with chords for a while, I think it’s really mater of getting the right modules.

After pulling the p5 down and playing it a bit, I’m even more on the fence. I also have a take 5 and a few other analog poly synths, p5 has cool tones, but it like most vintage gear, it perpetually slightly broken

Looks interesting, as do most of these behringer reimagined units. I’d be curious about how the variable sampling sounds. I’ve owned many vintage samplers over the years and have ended up doing most of my sampling in the box, I use TAL sampler for lofi vibes. .

Ha, I have a similar problem, but I live on a quiet side street in Chicago, next door to a drug dealer. People visit him, and then sit in their cars outside my house blasting shitty music and throwing trash all over the sidewalk.

I’m loving the ALM MFX, decidedly digital, but versatile and can sound dusty and analog. Plus its syncs well and stereo.
