I’m hoping that this influx of new users will inspire more and more developers to create third party clients, etc. Plus Bluesky is built on an open-source federated platform so anyone can create their own Bluesky instance, which is cool

I’m so sorry 💔 I lost my kitty in July and it’s the worst feeling in the world… 😢

Waves of new BlueSky arrivals in last few days!

I’ve been tracking starter packs relevant to molecular/mechanistic/genetic/cellular…etc biology

Hope it’s helpful but warning: now a v long thread!

Probably the last time I can do this...

You’ve got to check out “block lists!” They let you block a bunch of people at once. They have lists for blocking MAGA, blocking bots, etc. bsky.app/profile/bran... There’s also a link I reposted that contains a thread of science “starter packs” that let you follow a bunch of accounts at once :)

On the flip side of the coin, they also have “block lists” that are curated lists of accounts that you can block with one click. Pretty nice! As the list updates, your blocked accounts update too. bsky.app/profile/apth...
There's a bunch of different lists, this is the one I've blocked and it's been good so far:

Someone probably added you to a “starter pack” which is a list of curated accounts. When someone goes to a starter pack, they can choose to follow everyone on that list with one click! I’d bet someone added you to a genetics list :) bsky.app/profile/mjaf...

I think it was found in a brackish zone where groundwater meets the sea. It looks pretty interesting. What I’m wondering about is that if it sinks so quickly, will it have enough time, after being released, to soak up carbon before drifting to the ocean floor? 🤔 Interesting nonetheless!
