Not a poor photo at all and how cool that you got to see it! We usually just get F/A-18s and USCG C-130s here, but it's always fun when we get a B-29 or this B-17 (Sentimental Journey).

Currently Reading! Just Another Day in Vietnam by Nightingale about the ARVN 52nd Rangers and the day they were almost completely wiped out. The author was the Dep. Senior Advisor to the Bn and present at the battle.

Now onto my next book which looks like it might be about the 52nd ARVN Rangers/BDQ by Nightingale.
I know that story is gonna be gut wrenching as I'm aware of the outcome of the battle, but advisor books are often terrific insight.
Also, here's all 73 from this year so far.

some O-1 and backseat OV-10 time. As you can see from my tags, the book covers quite a bit!
The pacing was good, the stories were both interesting and heart wrenching, the dude is a big time name dropper so keep a pad nearby to keep track of who's who, and all in all, I really enjoyed reading it.

Just finished and dude, this was a really good book. Definitely 5 stars and worth a read for insight into Covey FACs, the Prairie Fire missions working with SOG and the STD, and later with the Ravens out of LS54.
It might be a little hard to find in any decent condition...

We have a Bernard Fall mention!
One day I'll have to make a Vietnam War Memoir drinking game... Fall is so ubiquitous he's right up there with mentioning the heat/smells first time the plane door opens, and the shock of the bus with the wire mesh over the windows to prevent grenades.

Oof, that's... a heck of a thing. The LLDB guys assigned to the Strategic Technical Directorate have stories that are rarely found in English works. For all of the books on SOG, it's important to remember everyone from the STD who were also on those and other missions. #vietnamwar #reading

Ok I know I finished this book days ago, but I keep thinking of the BS in it... especially this part!
With the flip of a switch, Hueys and Cobras could activate a secret quiet mode... with mufflers... in 1969.
I mean... C'mon man!

We walked along the boardwalk today and saw lots of pups, birds, but no cats.
The best part is that when I need to, I can just stop and sit at either the little parks & benches or along the wall.

The Navy doesn't get a whole lot of print coverage for what they did over the Ho Chi Minh Trail, so it's always interesting to find the stories when I can.

I'm enjoying the book so far. I'm just over 80 pages in & he's gone from flying a couple of missions over Cambodia & Laos at night with a navigator to flying SOG missions. The one thing to know is that almost every page is covered in names, and you really need a notepad to keep track of who is who.

So there's this mountain just outside of Pleiku.... While this book referred to it this way, most I've read called it Beaver Mtn.
