The must fun I've had with the franchise since the original (at last!).

Big Klingon vibe too, which I was totally on board with.

Also: legs.

#Bugonia triggered just about every emotion in me as it ricocheted around genres.

A wild, WTF of a movie. And one of the best of the year.

#MrScorsese is terrific.

Makes an easy case for Marty being *the* best film director ever and has encouraged me to watch every single one of his movies again.

Two Netflix films, one seen on the big screen, one on a far smaller screen, would always prefer the option of big though...

Watched #Frankenstein by @realgdt.bsky.social last night at The Regent in Christchurch, the closest screening to Mary Shelley's resting place in Bournemouth.

And it was fantastic. I think I'd go as far as to say it was sumptuous! Jacob Elordi the standout in a top tier cast.

Not that I expected any other outcome but within minutes I felt like #MrScorsese had been made specifically for me.

Ha! An example from yesterday...

Diane Keaton RIP.

Really sad about this, she was fucking awesome.

Think like I saw the film of the year this week...

And on the subject of new to @netflix.com UK, season 1 of #DarkWinds has just appeared on there, and that's very good too!

ICYMI

Both seasons of #InterviewWithTheVampire are now on @netflix.com in the UK.

The very highest of recommendations for this incredible series (which leaves the movie adaptation in the dust).

Everyone seems to have seen it already but I finally caught up with #OneBattleAfterAnother...

...and yeah, you were all right about it.

Feels like a film you could watch in the 30 years and it would be a great time capsule for the era it was made in.

Watched this one with my kid today (first time for him).

Seeing it opening weekend 31 (!) years ago remains one of the best cinema experiences I've ever had.

It grabbed hold of the zeitgeist on a level that few films manage.

Starting to introduce my son to Tarantino. Was planning on showing them in order but he made sure that idea went out the window pretty swiftly...

It's baffling that the now Emmy-award-winning series #ThePitt *still* hasn't found a home in the UK.

A rewatch of one of the most startling directorial debuts ever.

This one was an absolute life-changer for me and still probably my favourite Tarantino.

Raw and dangerous.

One stone cold classic and three new watches which were all worth my time.

No!

'Legendary' barely scratches the surface.

RIP Robert Redford.

Hopefully I've got the worst new movie I'll see this year out of the way.

(I mean, I wasn't expecting much but holy shit!)

Bit late to the party but #DeptQ is mostly great (investigation more compelling than the flashbacks).

Matthew Goode is excellent but the real MVP is Alexej Manvelov as Akram. One of the best TV characters of 2025.

Enjoyed #CaughtStealing a fair bit, nice to see Aronofsky changing gear into something a little more crowd-pleasing than his usual fare.

Set in the '90s and definitely had that crime flick vibe from the '90s, so had me getting a bit nostalgic for those long gone days...

Two Nolans back on the big screen, a prep watch for a screening I'm introducing for @highcontrastcinema.bsky.social next week, and a Glen Ford Western.

Final Nolan on the big screen for the Bank Holiday weekend: The Dark Knight.

Still the benchmark. This was Nolan confirming his place in the pantheon of Greatest Directors of All Time. And no one will ever come close to Heath Ledger's devilishly brilliant performance.

Second Nolan on the big screen this weekend: Interstellar.

Was lukewarm on it originally but have grown to love it since. Don't think I'm alone in that, but those that totally got it the first time around, you have my enduring respect!

Kickstarted a weekend of Christopher Nolan on the big screen with one of my favourites, Inception.

A mind-bendingly ingenious premise (high concept: a reverse heist... in a dream!), a stellar cast, a pounding but emotive score, and a director at the top of his game.

A masterpiece.
