I listened to a
programme on Radio 4 about an author I’ve always bypassed- Lee Child - I was so struck by him that I went out and bought his first novel. I probably won’t read anymore but it was well written, a bit too violent for my taste, but as a holiday book, pretty good.

It showed me that entitled behaviour by the so-called elite, is not a new phenomenon. Some of his gushing expressions of love got to be a bit much but it was a fascinating read.
I’ve just started the new William Boyd and as usual with his books, I am immediately struck by how varied his writing is

Sorry, I should have answered earlier…
The last month I’ve read a real mix of trashy novels and some much better. The last was the new Robert Harris ‘Precipice’ which was based on real letters from Asquith to his 20 something aristocratic lover before and during the first war.

Then I’m a wimp too. I’ve been reading novels and keeping my news consumption to a bare minimum. I do feel much more relaxed as a result. I’m not sure when I’ll go back to ‘normal’
