I play fantasy football. I sometimes try to read Pep Guardiola's mind.

Alright noobs, while you're unwrapping presents, eating food and enjoying Christmas with your family, some of us will taking #FPL seriously and making sure every stat has been examined in minute detail in order to maximise our value and expected outcome. I pity you tbh.

Pep going full control mode vs a good transition team. Should be lots of possession in theory, can they turn the possession into chances? Guess we shall see. Assume Villa will try to catch them on the break when Gvardiol roams using Rogers ball carrying. Peak Watkins would have been useful here.

Will be interesting to see who is at FB from Nunes/Silva. Also if Foden is central with KDB, if so that will be the first time this season.

City team for Juventus should pick itself. Ederson/Ortega the main question mark. Hopefully Ederson comes back in. Unfortunately that probably means Walker ball again.

I'd probably go Doku given the choice

This leaves us with the RW spot and Silva/Savio seems a coin toss. Silva helps by dropping back into midfield for build up, so works better as a whole given how vulnerable they are here. Particularly if he's forced to use Lewis in midfield areas over Gvardiol.

Save FT and once again accept death by Salah?

For the purposes of measuring accuracy I will side with the left team, CB into midfield. The right team is Gvardiol into LW/LC. Any player with a name underneath just shows the other option most likely to play there if I get the first name wrong. Good luck if you own Haaland =) #FPL

That was last season with Rodri though. Note that Ake & Walker started. Gvardiol bench but also Akanji over Dias. At that time Akanji was in great form, Dias not so much and we already discussed passing and a balance. He does usually use CB to pivot though v Pool - here are the 2 games before that.
November 29, 2024 at 3:56 PM
That leaves either 2 or 3 spots in attack depending on if Pep starts with Lewis in the pivot with 4 defenders behind (like v Spurs) or uses Lewis/Akanji/Stones to move from the 4 into the pivot.

It's worth noting last time City played Pool they used Stones from CB into the pivot in a 1-1 draw.

Vs Feyenoord he inverted from RB again. Using wingers. It was 3-3 but performance much improved.

How much we can read into that info I don't know, particularly as they are very different games on paper. Liverpool away is yet again another kettle of fish. Pep changes on opponent as we know.

Lewis can form that pivot from either FB like usual, however vs Spurs he started in the pivot. With 4 defenders behind (Gvardiol into LW), that's rare (for Lewis to start at pivot). No doubt this is to try and help Gundogan solo pivot as already mentioned and tighten up that area. They lost 4-0.

Assuming that but Gundo Nunes maybe switched if fans get what they want.

Could also be something crazy like Foden LW Jack RW if he sticks with his outside wingers vibe he seems to start with in a few CL games (but that's been Savio LW Doku RW so surely not?)

Tbh it's very messy this week, I think KDB has a chance to start yeah. Wouldn't bet by house on it but he will get mins, Lewis has a chance once again most likely from LB. I expect Gundo will play at 6 over Kovacic and it's just who he uses to make the partner. Silva would be the partner in image 2

Guess I'm in!
