I hope you’re right and Wray has a master plan here, but I doubt he was signed to be immediately moved. That would be an interesting way to treat a player the club seems to value a lot culturally. So I think chances are he’s on the opening day roster. We’ll see.

But you’re going to pay the salary for that roster spot regardless. the idea that we need to resign him because we paid him last year is the definition of Sunk Cost Fallacy. And I doubt we need to generate revenue from player sales to pay the wage bill, particularly at the back end of the roster.

This doesn’t make any sense - it didn’t cost us anything to acquire Yaro and there is opportunity cost in a league with finite roster spots. Letting him go and signing a better free agent would cost CITY the exact same amount in terms of signing fees and be a better use of the roster spot.
