This is a well known problem. After natural disasters, some people and groups use the affected areas to dump their trash. Worse: Many think they're actually helping, and it reeks hard of "Even our trash is better than what them poor backwards people have."

There's also the fact that Shane has likely autism and anxiety and it informs a lot of his decisions. But as always, ND acceptance only happens when it's cute, not when it's real and inconvenient. Then they're suddenly cold, don't love their partner enough or don't deserve them. Every. Damn. Time.

Naja, 60 Zentimeter Hochwasser ist noch kein Verlust. Nasse Füße und ein Versicherungsfall. Aber ich wohne an der Donau. Da sieht man das vielleicht etwas anders

Die Idee war, dass das Wasser in unversiegelten Böden ablaufen kann, und für den Rest gab es ein Rückhaltebecken. Aber Bodenschwamm funktioniert auch nur bis zu einem gewissen Grad. Nicht bei der größten Regenmenge, die je in NRW gemessen wurde. Und Rückhaltebecken... Naja. Wohl zu klein

I'm not an expert, but initial warnings do not have the information necessary. They are just to get people to safety first. The more time passes and the more "checkpoints" the wave passes, the more accurate it gets. The 6 feet wave prediction for Hawaii seems pretty spot on.

this quake resulted in quite sizeable Tsunami waves, still. People being caught unawares by a 5 foot wave on the beach will be dragged out to sea. But it wasn't as bad as Fukushima or the Christmas Tsunami

It depends on the direction of the movement of the tectonic plates. A Tsunami result from the sudden displacement of a large amount of water under high pressure. But if there isn't a big upward push, it might be less pronounced, or there might be non, if the plates slide against each other sideways.
