Are there any traces of non-heterosexual characters in the Middle Earth? I don't mean things like "he never married" or the plethora of hobbit-related fanfics (which I now must reread, for research purposes).

I take it you've disconnected and connected again and the problem persisted. In this case the next troubleshooting steps for me would be: clean the port with a toothpick, gently see if it's not loose, check with a friend's iPad and charger whether the problem lies with the iPad or with the charger.

In principle a few days with a dead battery shouldn't affect it. Check the charger, the cable and the connection. I'm not an Apple guy, but in my experience these types of problems are related to either charger dying, broken/unreliable cable or poor connection due to dust in the port.
