I’ve said before that the 2A wing nuts that were so vocal during Biden’s term are missing their best chance to “rise up against a tyrannical government”. Maybe it’s the well-regulated part that the militias couldn’t quite get?

I love how federal judges pretend to do the right thing, knowing full well that it will go to the supreme court, where the so-called Justices will do the GOP's bidding once again. Watch as Texas is allowed to gerrymander but California is not. Hypocrisy is their brand.

And as anyone who has ever been incarcerated can tell you, the corrections industry (yes, industry) in the USA attracts a certain type of person. People with feelings of persecution and/or inadequacy, selfish, sadistic, in some cases purely evil. They take their frustrations out on prisoners.

I’m still hedging my bets against a “national emergency” preempting a midterm or further elections. He doesn’t behave like he ever plans to leave the White House except feet first.

In Florida the Salvation Army Corrections Department used to handle probation and parole compliance. Only recently did they relinquish that role. A new way to spell “overreach”.

I certainly hope you’re right. The general apathy of a full 1/3 of registered voters not voting in the last election and the general acceptance of this administration’s lawlessness does not foster optimism.

I do get your point, and yes there are countries worse than the US. But the oligarchy in the US must first be overthrown and I think they’ll leave enough of the middle class lives alone to keep it forever “somebody else’s problem”. The overthrow won’t get organized enough to happen.

PM Carney is not a bad keeper, nor was Trudeau. Canada is far from an oligarchy, regardless of what they say in Alberta.

When you have the wealth and power of world rulers you have the means to bury things completely. At least during your own lifetime. The Epstein Files is the biggest scandal to ever be buried so completely. If the surviving victims start naming names, that’s a different story.
