Yeah - mine was more of a general observation rather than anything specific I've seen from today. But certainly the resources & effort spent on scicomm (and how effective it may or may not be) is going to vary quite a bit in-person vs. digitally.

...and even though there will be a few people in the comments who understand and are trying to explain how the process works and that science is a process of discovery and refinement and definitely NOT video game patch notes, they always get drowned out by nonsense.

Like for example you see a few people on Twitter saying "can't believe paleontologists updated Spinosaurus again, what's next?" and all of a sudden you get Instagram reels saying stuff like "they nerfed Spinosaurus again :skull emoji:" with 100k+ likes (which I've seen several examples of)...

These are all great points (and pretty accurate IMO) but I think part of the concern is focused around how far and how rapidly these misunderstandings can spread, and also how difficult it can be to correct said misunderstandings once they're out in the wild
