I like discussing movies, shows, books, and games
So one of the only countries giving Silksong mixed reviews is China and it seems to be primarily because of a weak localization (apparently it uses a lot of pretentious sounding Classical Chinese)

@beijingpalmer.bsky.social , any insight here?

Based and hee hoo pilled

Sure, gender dynamics to it,but in the end the branch in charge of hiring(by extension rejection, not even bothering to inform you sometimes),policing behavior, firing, and takes the boss's side by default is not gonna make many friends even with men in charge. All it takes is a few stories like this

Hey if Persona is part of MegaTen, then Megami Tensei 1 is technically the first Persona game

Typical clueless Hollywood studio pushing for characters nobody cares about smh

No one's gonna care for a kiddie film spin-off, Sony, give us Oscar worthy content for adults like Morbius 2: The Morbing, Madame Web vs Kraven, and 10 seasons of the El Muerto streaming show.

You know, REAL CINEMA

Garth Ennis when I force him to read that comic, colorized

True but this one still makes me smile though

Well I meant my comments mostly as a response to the original post. I think there's some nuance between "the writer ignored the role of religion altogether" and "the writer acknowledged it and implies it happens mostly off screen but prioritizes other elements in the story"

Berserk could more be viewed as a part of the general Japanese view of Christianity as alien even when they use its aesthetics (ie: some fascination but ultimately due to historical/cultural reasons they're not very sympathetic to it)

Similar to why church/God analogues are often villains in JRPGs

A narrative concurrent and symbiotic with "Japanese games are outdated/cringe",why Yoshi P is still wary of JRPG labels and Square ditched turn-based in mainline FF because it was not "immersive"

A comment claims they wanted to ditch boss battles for the same reason

2 - Hard to choose, it's not a question I've thought about a lot, but for what it's worth, I'm gonna go with Jack Frost from MegaTen
June 2, 2025 at 10:19 PM
1 - It was either Sonic 1 or some football game I can't remember

What might be missed by sequels copy pasting the formula is social sim/time management mechanics were uniquely created to suit specific themes of P3,how your time on earth with your loved ones is limited,up to you to figure out how to make the most of it. Not intended as social criticism in itself..
May 17, 2025 at 3:45 PM
Think is a misread of P3's themes. Not about blaming people with apathy, game doesn't end on a sour note if you take early ending.
Perspective on P3 might be tainted by P4/P5's attempts to talk about Society; 3 much more about how different people tackle grief and mortality *on an individual level*

It's a "Tweet left target audience" moment.
NSP is JRPG-focused. His "weaponizing success" is in the context (his viewers would be familiar with) Square said mainline FF could not be a traditional JRPG again cuz it would undermine its high-fidelity graphics and budget; E33 is a counter-argument

Sorry for the wall of text, ended up being longer than I expected. But it did make an effort to address issues with modern Persona so I thought it was worth mentioning.
Again, I respect that you didn't like it.

Sinners (9/10)
Crime drama, period piece, horror movie, musical, it meshes so many different genres into one impressively coherent, thematically rich whole. All aspects (cinematography, acting, writing...) are masterful, but the one that takes the cake is the OST which I've been listening to non-stop

Playing Shin Megami Tensei II, look who showed up!
April 14, 2025 at 6:26 PM
I wanted to dm you this cuz I thought you'd find it funny, but since that's not possible I'm leaving this here
April 10, 2025 at 6:13 PM
I didn't "try" to compare.
Why do you think they had a powerful VP (ie: Cheney) controlling Texan President (ie: Bush)? "American Idiot" plays as they invade hell? Mimic demon blows up himself like a terrorist?
The show is 100% written as an allegory for the War on Terror. Blame the writers not me
