Here I am thinking why it would make any difference during a power outage than I realize that not everyone grew up in a rural area and relied on well water that needed electricity to get to you.

That was one of the sites I was looking at to source wires! Good to know that they're reliable.
July 15, 2025 at 6:57 PM
Yeah I was happy that this wiring and the wires that actually go to the motor look fine. It's just the plug that actually goes to the electrical socket that's in sad shape.

I've never done any electrical stuff like this before but my boyfriend has some basic electrical knowledge and will help me.

I finally got around to opening the hatch and taking a picture!

Yeah I found out about the LED bulbs AFTER I got the machine serviced and he had already replaced the bulb with a regular incandescent one. Definitely going to keep the LED bulbs in mind when it needs to be replaced.

Oh good to know! I found one site that lets you customize a cable and the prices didn't seem too bad, so if I could get everything in one spot and assembled that would be best imo.

But good to know that the wire isn't that hard to source!

I definitely like to keep things as original as possible but the ends where they connect to the machine are just too frayed for my liking. I've found some sites that seem to make replica vintage wiring so I'm going to email them and see if they can help out.

Also through google I managed to find a reddit thread of someone else wanting to re-wire a 99-13, and then someone linked a youtube video. Definitely going to be watching through this when I have a chance: www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5Wj...

I missed that screw! That would probably explain it. 😅 The large thumb screw on there was on there SUPER tight so I thought that was all I needed to get out. I'll try that other screw when I get home!

I'm at work right now but last night I did undo the screw on that hatch but couldn't figure out how to open it! I need to get in there to replace the electric cord anyway but I was going to see if I could find anything showing how to undo the hatch.

I think I ran across this link when I first got the machine and was just googling around. 😅

99s seem pretty common but not this one, and there's definitely some stuff that's different than the others!

Here's the scan of the manual I found. I can take pictures of it if this doesn't meet your needs, feel free to dm me your email. ismacs.net/singer_sewin...

I can take more pictures of the manual but I know I've found scans of this particular manual online as well if that would work? I'm sure I can find the link again.

Bluesky let me select 7 photos and posted 4. 🤦‍♀️

The two sides of the machine and the manual.

Picture of the label on the motor and close ups of some of the decals.

Different angles of the machine. Including the serial number and manual. Manual says 1925 but looking up the SN it looks like this particular machine was made in Elizabeth, NJ in 1928.

Original bentwood case and the inside of it. The inside has a place to put the knee bar and the box of feet, and also possibly an oil can (which I do not have)
July 10, 2025 at 12:42 AM
Yes! It has the bentwood case with a knee control. And some of the original feet were packaged with it.

The electric cord needs some help but other than that it seems like it's in pretty good condition! I did get it serviced so I know it works, I just want to replace the cord before using it.

I'm glad someone else asked about the 99's. I have a 99-13 and that seems like a less common model. I have the manual with it and could definitely send some pictures if you ever expand the project!

As QA I feel this so much. I hate going through docs trying to find answers only to find they are super out of date. And then I need to track down the dev or someone that may be able to help. It's no fun! It's also crazy how much stuff ends up being tribal knowledge instead of being put somewhere.

I know! Having the Nintendo Live alongside PAX was great! They just had a regular booth last year (which was still big and impressive as always).
