Here’s where I convince you that I’m legit. I am, indeed, legit. Shitlib. Misanthrope. Obscure 1990’s movie criminal. Dark Brandon acolyte. Blocked by David Klion, David Sirota, and Hunter Walker.

I was among people who think this was p inevitable, and while I do think there was benefit in showing more Americans what Republicans were willing to do, it didn't keep faith with either those people or anyone else *on top* of the inevitable loss, and that is a political defeat regardless.

Did they have many options? No. Were people clamoring for the option labeled "end at the expense of what they were holding out for"? Also not really. Sorry, it is BAD to demoralize this many people when the blood drawn in this fight was beginning to have real weight politically.

And I’m not trying to ratfuck here. If you’ve followed me for any amount of time you’d know I’d rather use razor blade toilet paper than have Bernard in leadership, but, somehow, questioning the choices of Dem leadership has become tantamount to applying for DSA membership, and, c’mon guys.

Like how many times does Dem leadership get to make public errors before they need to fall on their collective swords?

And that’s been my larger point too. This is the same leadership that told us in June of ‘24 that the only way to beat Trump was to throw Biden overboard, and then give Kamala Harris the shortest runway possible! Which, uh, didn’t quiet work out?

My entire argument this whole time has been: What was the point? Like the shutdown on it’s own caused harm, and there weren’t any obvious deliverables to begin with. Either have something tangible in mind in exchange for the pain being caused, or don’t do it. That’s a failure of leadership.

This kinda feels like the discourse when Idris Elba was floating around as potential Bond replacement.
“But James Bond isnt Black.”
“James Bond is also a fictional character. You can make him an astronaut if you want. In fact, somebody did.”
