No worries! Truly, your point about editing the pdfs is a good one. Removal of the chairs is trying to get rid of the idea that if Big Name Scholar X is the Chair that somehow that dissertation starts off with an edge; it shouldn't be a popularity contest. We'll keep working to refine the process!
