He can’t convince anyone listening to him to become a thief and a murderer. If they’ll rape or kill when they think they won’t get in trouble for it (govt says it’s ok), they’re already a problem. But his enablers (staff, coworkers, bosses, advertisers) need to know we see them behind the curtain.

Their goal is the complete destruction of govt. Their only weakness is a nervous coalition of Rs who are uneasy about overthrowing the courts decisions. A shutdown hands them a workaround at the moment we’re racking up some small successes in court. I hate it but Schumer is possibly correct here.

It could be that we’re going to end up facing the unthinkable. It doesn’t look good. But earlier stabs at being above court decisions have been walked back very carefully. Their coalition (see Kennedys comments) was clear it’s a red line. Trump/Elon/Heritage/Thiel/Bannon want a shut down. Why?

Ha! When I get angry I get real quiet - This is a chess game, and this week it was a flurry of court decisions that allowed us to land some punches. I don’t know if the rule of law will hold. But the law is a freight train that’s hard to stop. And the doge bros aren’t that smart.

They want a complete overthrow of our govt. They’ve planned this out well. They have only 1 vulnerability and that’s their nervous R coalition uneasy about the wh not complying with a court order. They’ve backed way off on that point after Rs backlash. No good options here, but I think he’s right.

In a shutdown they can do it all, and do it without judicial oversight. I hate it too, but I think Schumer sees the one and only good move - to see if the law can hold. In a shutdown those fuckers will be in their element, completely within their right to kill every job the court just restored.

I hate it but he’s right. Courts would be shuttered in a shutdown. Those fuckers want a shutdown because it removes the courts, which is the only tiny thread left to our way of life. And the courts have been holding.

Hmmm I don’t know. Who do you mean by ‘people’? Because it’s my belief the people are in shock. We’ve been in a horrible accident, and this is the point where -lights & sirens blaring-someone throws a blanket round your shoulders then tends to someone worse off. We’re disoriented. Keep reporting.

To comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable. Every reporter in the nyt newsroom should walk. The front lines are at your cubicle. They can’t do this without you, the writers.
