New paper is out! We have studied the cute tiny Discocelia plataet sp. n. to obtain the first molecular data of the order Discocelida and clarify its cell structure. All this for a better understanding of the evolution of Cercozoa.

New lab pre-print up! "Twelve species of human parasites make up half the literature on microbial eukaryotes"
doi.org/10.1101/2025...

We (led by UG Joanna Lepper and with @hbrappap.bsky.social) quantified all mentions of protist species in the scientific literature 🧵

Twelve species of human parasites make up half of the literature on microbial eukaryotes
Although microbial eukaryotes comprise the majority of eukaryotic phylogenetic diversity and inhabit nearly all ecosystems globally, most research focuses on only a few species of human parasites. Her...

Hot off the press in JBC, here's the latest article started during my Ph.D in Prof. Goloubinoff's Lab and continued and completed at @paolodelosrios.bsky.social Lab.

"Hsp110 Nucleotide Exchange Factors may amplify Hsp70-disaggregation by enhanced entropic pulling"

Hsp110 Nucleotide Exchange Factors may amplify Hsp70-disaggregation by enhanced entropic pulling
Hsp70s use energy from ATP hydrolysis to unfold protein structures and solubilize stable aggregates and accumulate native species, even under adverse non-native conditions. To carry out its catalytic ...

Excited to share our new paper in @cellreports.bsky.social that reshapes our understanding of chromosome organization's deep evolutionary roots! Our work dives into the origins of the machinery that structures our very genomes.

On adaptation to a mesophilic environment and the chaperone network in Archaea

Hopla il est là et je ferais une petite explication de ce que j'ai cherché à comprendre dedans. Mais ça parle de chaperonnes et d'archées et de relations entre évolution et HSP70.

let’s not forget most of us working in science are immigrants we’re facing discrimination not just in the USA but in the EU as well. I wish we talk more about the countless hours we spend making our residence card papers/not being able to go to conferences because of visa/ worse health care options
The far-right has always targeted and will always target science and scientists, as they target public workers, unions, or minorities.

#standupforscience, yes, but stand up for everyone that suffers the actions of the far-right in the US and elsewhere. ✊🧪
