I'd say stick with a bow and arrow to damage the horse, then you can use the momentum of the horse to land a fatal blow with the mace

Oooo, Lance is risky as if they have a longer Lance, or experienced lancer, it's a game of reach. Mace is good if its you on the ground against cavalry. But give me a mace and sword
