The NPC can call you by radio in the desert so the sense of isolation is gone.
And probably half of the entries have that complaint, but I think it's fair: you play a Metroid to explore a desolated area not to talk to other characters. You have other franchises for that. At least that's what I want.

Yes, it looks like the tables have turned: the "2D" ones are the ones that allow exploration and Prime are the ones hand-holding you.

The thing is the level design already tell you what to do pretty well, the NPCs were unnecessary and they also remove the sense of isolation of the games, one of the things that made Metroid special. (And I didn't like the acting either lol).

True, I don't think people liked that though. It was also criticized on Zero Mission, and they removed the hints on the Samus Returns remake and Dread, so I was expecting the same on Beyond.

Yes, but it was less intrusive and you could deactivate it. There's no way to do that on the new one.

What's the point of the NPCs explaining you where to go when it's impossible to get lost in the map? Most of them are virtually just a straight line. Many things that people liked of the old ones are gone, so who is this game for?

Yes, it's a strange game. Because they tried to copy Prime 1 quite a lot (thematically similar areas, reskinned enemies) and called it Prime 4... But then there's no backtracking, the maps are quite linear and they even added NPCs that probably no Metroid fan would like.

I haven't read any reviews though, I wanted to play the game knowing as less as possible. So I don't really know what people complain the most.

... or how all the new stuff is added suddenly: the artifact, the new alien race, the psychic powers, the mind controlling metroids, etc. The other Primes have 1/2 gimmicks that were added progressively, but this one throws it in your face during the first hour. And I haven't got the motorbike yet.

The Metroid Prime remake was well received, so I don't think that's the problem at all. I have only a played a bit of the game, and they could have spiced the combat up a bit, but it's okayish, I'd complain more about how linear the game looks like, the annoying NPC, ...

Yes, it looks like it was made by a puritan lol

And apparently having a threesome is as bad as doing bestiality.

It's one of those games that everyone should play. I still have Dark Bramble PTSD D:

Yes, but we don't have that much time lol. I follow tons of games, but I barely play 1/10 of them. So I think it's better to appeal to people who regularly plays/review/comment them instead (content creators specially).

I disagree. Those systems are a framework or a tool, it depends what you do with them. It's like saying using a trope in a story makes it less artistic.

If you overuse those tools you get something formulaic though.
