Think 10 teams is the wrong way to go. The 3 clubs that would be going down are punished financially and competitively to accommodate the bigger clubs in europe. The split is probs the most exciting part of league atm and replacing that with just 4 games against everyone is the most boring outcome

Best v best, which the league then actively goes outs its way to not show on tv. We then end up with worse tv deal compared to most countries and then we wonder why we fall further behind financially.

So because celtic and rangers face playing an extra 2 or 4 european games the rest of scottish football must suffer to accommodate them? The whole scottish football pyramid needs restructured rather than this constant obsession with 10 or 12 in the top division

Lol at the spend less on public transport, if we spent any less on public transport we woild have to start tearing down train stations and bus lanes

Think this is true for a lot of football coverage now, filled with ex pros not really adding any proper analysis to games. Feel like MOTD would be better with extended highlights of each game

ABCD. £1bn could do everything ive ever wanted and still have so much left its the dream for me at least

Yeah even more subsidies from london and south east to rest of uk not the answer but would've thought better connectivity helps northern cities grow and try create something similar to london but in the north but obviously needs more than just trains as pointed out
February 11, 2025 at 8:37 PM
But a lot of these places have quick connections into london giving better access to higher paying jobs? Also isnt toms wider point that places like Cambridge and oxford get a lot of govt funding (such as new railway) despite the fact they show little interest in growing which the north doesnt get.

Could we go back to some sort of cool brittania times if we made booze and houses cheaper

Always wondered if scrapping VAT exemptions on most products and the £90k threshold could be a starting point depending on how much extra it would raise

Always thought when he was at Celtic he could be quite prickly in media interviews. Obviously is style play at celtic worked wonders domestically considering financial gap but did find it strange trying to play like that away to real madrid for example and it inevitably ending badly

worried that even reading the replies to those numbers a lot of peoples reaction is are they stupid etc. Govts biggest task is proving they can actually improve peoples lives and do worry a lot of their focus is on long term policies which is better than previously but do need some immediate action

The obvious question being what homes are these people going to downsize? Could we try actually building houses before trying this
December 9, 2024 at 12:49 PM
Point C here being the big one especially when there are already big concerns over trying to build 1.5m by end of parliament which is way short of what is needed. Fear that planning reform isnt going to be enough to boost building numbers any time soon

Had a good chuckle that calling a fox sly is derogatory, gets PETA headlines but do wonder if its worth it to look this unserious though

Like the idea for this but councils/combined authorities really need their own tax raising powers to actually fund the services they want to provide
