Running for Congress in Texas-37

I'm a father of two, cancer survivor, advocate for mental health and want to make sure my child grow up in a democracy.

Also, when I have tried to volunteer to help in red districts like Chip Roy’s, or to run against him I’m ignored.

I have also been explicitly told by members of the party that because my current rep raises a lot of money that’s what’s important. So actually fighting for democracy doesn’t?

As someone that is organizing a run against the 78 year old, 30 year incumbent in Austin I wholeheartedly disagree with this. I’ve been repeatedly told not to run that my current rep raises a lot of money & that they prefer more diverse candidate. They have asked for the names of my donors though.

Whatever it was we did in 2003

Wasn’t Harris a very progressive candidate? And didn’t she lose to a far right maniac while moderate republicans and independents stayed home? There is a nuance involved and to suggest otherwise will further embolden the far right.

We need term limits is what we need

I want to run in a R+20 Dis & Im willing to do it if I have the support to actually fight to say things that may go against the grain of progressives to call BS from Repubs But it feels like there is a blue wall that is concerned more w/ “liking” their candidate than someone that can actually fight

Harris had 30,000 people in TX last yr and still lost. I do think more Dems should be in red districts, it’s a good strategy but it doesn’t warrant a push in either direction. Dems should focus on speaking to rural and center voters like normal people for a change and convey how they can help them.

I agree, there was a massive coalition of center & center right voters that hated Trump but were equally turned off by progressive messaging that stayed home during the general election.

I agree here. The general electorate especially in center right districts are turned off by progressive messaging. And the Dems have become terrified to offend anyone in the party thus losing Republicans or moderates that don’t like Trump. Most them stayed home last election cycle as a result.

This is a horrible take. When I think of moving towards the middle I think of not dismissing young men, not having a forklift holding up a fence in the border, not having everything be about identity politics.

One thing that has been frustrating is Ive reached out to multiple offices/people in the party, trying to offer my help to organize even just small events. Nothing. They are dismissive and act as if they know better. However I see them at parties on Insta almost daily.
March 6, 2025 at 2:27 PM
I have repeatedly asked the local democratic party office for help organizing town halls/small events in neighboring red districts and have been completely ignored. However, I've seen the country chair posting to instagram daily at social events. I'm in central TX and it's incredibly frustrating

Should the Democrats put up more moderate candidates in states like Texas in an effort to flip red districts?

She’s such a moron honestly

Run moderate centered dems in red districts. Don’t waste a fucking moment either, hold town halls in their districts, tell them like normal people how we can help them. Not Trump is a fascist. They won’t listen.
February 27, 2025 at 4:26 AM
He’s both. And he’s a fucking snake.
February 27, 2025 at 2:02 AM
Shut that shit down
February 27, 2025 at 1:58 AM
Hold town halls in Chip Roy’s district. Let the people in San Marcos, New Braunfels, San Antonio know. Let them come to you, get them on camera!!!!!
