The biggest part of what they do is help connect ppl to other activists so they can begin working on mutual aid and community building.

Your general point stands, but there's a difference between baseless fear mongering and people's real problems that aren't communicated technically correctly.

If bread was a dollar, and now it's twenty dollars, it's tone deaf to say "well the price increase was three years ago so actually you're incorrect to complain about inflation and grocery prices are not an issue"
