Question: “You wear fine things well” both in Season 1 and Season 2, there’s some discourse online about it being an absolutely perfect example of queer seduction with the hesitancy and the giving the space to back off, and “I do but I’m not sure if you want to”, etc. etc. David, did you have that in mind consciously when you were writing it and Con did you feel any connection with that sort of hesitancy, giving people space? David: Well I think the hesitancy to me is the sexiest thing. And then the thing I loved about…I really loved, it’s one of those scenes that I wrote, most of the time I write something and it’s like 🥴 and sometimes you write something that is perfect. It was really easy. But the thing that in performance that I love about it is that Stede’s driving. And it’s such a like - it’s bold for him! He touches his body and takes the scarf. He takes it, stretches it out, and then tucks it in his pocket. And then to watch Taika’s reaction to it - Blackbeard’s reaction to it - kind of be like oh. I just love that scene. Con: I don’t think Blackbeard’s had romance before, certainly not with “steak and a fuck” Izzy. Izzy’s idea of romance is “do I unbuckle my belt or just pull them down”?
