That is what I meant: stranger things was already a young genx nostalgia show.

From a 48 years old mum: it’s not even Stranger Things, it’s the Goonies meets Star Wars.

So I assume for you they are Holly and Benji 😉

Then it is called ethics.

I’m talking about the books. The books were targeted to children at the time as part of the “moral” stories of the time. And it is kind of hard to miss that the big lion is god and the children died in a train accident…

Oh that I get completely, I think the first one starts as a compelling fantasy to then develop into a Christian tale of children dead on a train accident… I like the first one I dislike the series

I’m curious as a kid did you like all books? Because I enjoyed the Lion the witch and the wardrobe but when I got to “the kids died and the lion the god” I was disappointed

Narnia was targeted to children at the time and it is part of the “moral stories” aimed to teach and it teaches the greatness of the chosen one (Aarlan) Dune is a cautionary tale about the dangers of myth of the chosen one.

I always found suspicious the alliteration between Qimir and Imri, Vernestra’s Padawan, but the timeline does not match.., anyway yes, I would pick Qimir as well

I hated Narnia with passion, if you get past the first book you get deeply in the Christian allegory and it is frankly scary. Do not understand why remake it it is a very dated story

I don’t like how it went for him but I do not necessarily think he should have been a Jedi. Most of my favourite characters are non-Jedi so I do not see how it would have made his character better. A stormtrooper rebellion, now that I wanted to see

Parboil just to the point of being cooked but crunchy then serve as a salad seasoned with EVO salt pepper lemon zest and shaved almonds

Then the Gremlins came out one year later and suddenly killer cute-bears were cool…

Tray-bakes are easy. Just start roasting some potatoes then add chicken/vegetables/fish… just keep an eye on the different cooking times and you can experiment with spices

I do not remember it being divisive to be honest. I remember people being upset that Han (at the time a much more popular character than Luke) was frozen for the majority of ROTJ, and had no issue with the Ewoks

Bad sisters comes to mind. Season 1 was a perfect self-contained story, we cheered at the end and they had to go and make season 2, ruining half of the characters
November 28, 2024 at 1:37 PM
So no Gremlins or Critters? I always thought they were part of the same genre so to speak; killer puppets disguised as cute bears

It is also really short-minded on what was going on at the time (yes I’m old enough to have seen it as a child in a theatre): ET, the gremlins, ”. By introducing the Ewoks it was very much a movie of its time

One of the most surprising things for me (OT age fan): I arrived on line, and I discovered the love for the sequels. I still do not like them but never understood why I should attack people who do (and who were clearly kids when they came out so have fond memories)

I think it is actually more complicated. I think they sincerely think they are the rebellion, and they were lead to believe they are
