I can absolutely relate. For the most part through it all I've had to fully disengage because the feeling of living in this reality is too much to handle when it feels like I'm trapped in a giant davidian compound.

Nope, it just turns out that I was playing school on "toddler" mode (in terms of curriculum. Socially is another story) and now that I'm a married father of 4 with a job and real challenges/responsibilities, all the shit has finally come to the surface.

I actually had the opposite experience.

I grew up in Podunk hickville in the middle of nowhere TX. Tiny school, limited budget.

Which meant that the instruction and material was sorely lacking. It failed to motivate or challenge me, so I came out of HS thinking I was smart shit.

This has to be one of the most novel ideas I've seen in a LONG time.
