A fantastic demo by the fine folks @chaosium.bsky.social at #gameholecon has sold me! Can't wait to introduce my friends to the joys of Call of Cthulhu!

Reminds me of a poem from ww1

My friend, you would not tell with such high zest
To children ardent for some desperate glory,
The old Lie: Dulce et decorum est
Pro patria mori.

Reminds me of the time that the BBC used the UNSC logo from Halo as the logo for the United Nations Security Council.

fascist losers can't even hop a fence. They are in such a rush to catch dangerous criminals in the middle of the night that they are slowly crawling over a waist high fence with their Tactical Home Depot Ladders.

I love seeing very serious diagrams and excerpts that look like shitposts. For example, this gem here courtesy of one of this year's Ig Nobel prize in biology winners:

Ooooh, this looks very fun. It reminds me of the pf2e Investigator, it looks like the sort of thing that would be so much fun to play in a social and RP heavy campaign.

It gives me that same good feeling of a well-designed ability that i can't wait to use.

I've got quite the list. It puts things into perspective. Greater adoption of the internet, scientific advancements, increased awareness of climate and waste issues, and also mass shootings.

add Ender's Game to the torment nexus list, it had surveillance implants for children in it.

Parents would pay good money today for an implant that tracks their children for *safety*. They make kids shoes with airtag holders.

1.

"We’re s-so very small, in the end."

I read worm in high school and it changed me as a person. It made me think about art and trauma and storytelling and influenced what kinds of fiction i like. It's not perfect but its still probably the best superhero story i've ever read.

Why the ai post bro? Its lazy, trashy and wasteful. AI has no place on the left

Graffiti Kingdom is my go-to suggestion for remakes/remasters. You unlock or draw your own creatures for an action-platformer game with mild metroidvania elements.

Add steam workshop and some better editing tools, and you'll have a GOTY.

Speaking of the Dersh, i learned a fun fact about him today. He likes garlic bagels. At least according to the 2nd edition of the bagel bible.

I always thought the orokin design in warframe was odd. Who would voluntarily make themselves look like a piece of art for tacky rich people?

But hey if we have golden plasma infusions now, i guess i was wrong.

I think the dance of the dragons feels very Howard, in terms of magic, prophecy and badass action scenes bringing about the ruin of a dynasty of blood wizards.

The Battle Above the Gods Eye is wonderfully absurd classic pulp nonsense.

See, my idea was to make something really sad (but also heartfelt and funny) based on "We'll All Go Together When We Go"

I'm thinking of something halfway between On The Beach and Stardew Valley.

Why don't they make fantasy/sci-fi covers like this anymore. Its one of the few things I'm genuinely a retvrn person for. I want beautiful paintings of impractically dressed fantasy heroes and weird looking spaceships.

It is very good and very funny. The title is the protagonist's self-given name, as a bit of a self-deprecating joke.

The protagonist is a security robot who hacks its control chip, but instead of becoming a mass murderer, it watches bad soap operas while still doing its old job.

TLDR:

How do you think things might have played out differently if Lovecraft had become a diehard convert to medieval Islam or greco-roman religion?
June 10, 2025 at 12:21 AM
Probably my top example of "fantastic idea, mid execution, needs a remake/spiritual successor" is Graffiti Kingdom. Draw or collect any monster you want, build a custom moveset! But you can only draw with ps2 joysticks and the combat isn't great. Its begging for a PC meteoidvania remake w/ workshop
